Hyundai Motors India Ltd. (HMIL), the Indian unit of the leading South Korean car maker Hyundai, is all set to launch its most awaited 800 cc small car in the Indian market in November 2011. The all new Hyundai small car will be priced below the Santro Xing model where it will be taking on India’s highest selling car Suzuki Maruti Alto.

Even though the Indian car industry is going through a phase of slowdown, it seemingly hasn’t pushed the brakes on the slew of new car launches. These new car launches are slated to happen in the next couple of months giving automobile owners and prospective buyer a wider range of options. According to murmurs coming straight out of the Hyundai factory grapevine in Chennai, Hyundai’s answer to the Tata Nano, the Hyundai H800 is being readied up for a launch as early as September, this year.

The factory floor seems to be reverberating with the buzz surrounding the Hyundai H800′s launch. This latest product from the Korean company is touted to become the best selling Hyundai due to the combination of reasons like the low price and Hyundai’s brand value in India. The Hyundai H800 is a small car that will compete against the likes of the Maruti’s Alto, Chevrolet Spark and even Tata Nano. This car is all set to be Hyundai’s least priced car in the Indian market.

Talking about the car specification this car is going to arrive on the Indian shore with a three pot petrol engine displacing around 800cc. The engine is expected to be a class leader both in terms of performance as well as fuel economy. As of now, the compnay is planning to launch the car only in petrol guise to India with no plans of a diesel engined variant yet. The car will also feature the new “Fluidic” design from Hyundai which is said to be the new design philosophy that all future Hyundai cars are set to arrive with.

So, car lovers can anticipate the Hyundai H800 Hatchback to be a damn good looking car. Now this is a welcome respite from the Ugly Hyundais of yore. The price of the Hyundai H800 Small Car will be under 3 Lakh Rupees that is will be priced below the Santro Xing model. With the Hyundai H800, Hyundai India is employing a newer strategy to make inroads into the rural Indian car market, with an aggressive dealer expansion plan that will focus on selling low cost cars like the Hyundai H800.

I’m sure many of you are going to agree with me on this. Read on! Every attribute assigned to the present middle class of India and their social attitude is apt.Yet,one is left searching for reasons which have led to these behavioural changes over just the past 25 to 30 years. Before this period,it was the virtuous middle class which took part in the freedom struggle of India, sustained the administration admirably after the British vacated, drafted elaborate five-year plans for the development of independent India, defended its territory from external aggression, absorbed advanced technical knowledge and expertise and followed the law and rules to the letter. Unfortunately,it changed for the worse later.

It is worth analysing what has led to the middle class to acquire such a sense of entitlement and impunity. Firstly, the blame can be laid at the door of the education system, which encourages unbridled competition, without emphasising on values. With sustained efforts over a period, this can be remedied. However,a more difficult cause to rectify is the money which has been suddenly put in their hands after economic liberalisation through hefty pay packets and bonuses. Take the extra money and they will be left with no device with which to violate any rules.
